NatureZoo of Denmark

A few months back I spent the day at Bubble London trade fair for baby and children's fashion. I went in the hope that I will discover some wonderful new brands to stock in my boutique and boy was I overwhelmed with the choices! One brand in particular really fit the bill and that was NatureZoo of Denmark...

NatureZoo specialise in hand crocheted bamboo cotton toys that are not only unbelievably cute but have so many benefits over regular soft toys!

Their texture is as soft a silk and bamboo fibres are antibacterial and anti-fungus which essentially prevents any bad smells which is common with a loved toy. Furthermore the bamboo yarn has the FSC certification, which means that nature has been taken into consideration both when cultivating and harvesting the bamboo.

The range is adorable and animal based with an array of bright, bold colours which is what struck me from a distance as I was walking about the trade fair. The collection boasts a gorgeous selection of not only single soft toys but also buggy toys, buggy mobiles and nursery mobiles.

These crotched animals make a wonderful maternity gift at a baby shower! To shop NatureZoo click here :))

Amy and Ivor Leather Moccasins

From the moment I saw my first pair of Amy and Ivor Moccasins I fell in love and I knew I had to have them in my store and last week my order arrived!!

Set up and run by Alice Hedley, the moccasins are hand made in the UK using chrome free leather which is not only safe for baby but incredibly soft and supple on those tiny feet. The soft structure and breathable leather allows developing feet to have natural freedom without feeling restricted by hard and uncomfortable shoes. So aside from being super stylish they have the added benefit of keeping those little feet happy and healthy!

The colour range is gorgeous it was very hard to choose!!

I ordered the CINNAMON, LIME, PLUM and PUTTY

Each pair comes in its own gorgeous shoes box with the Amy and Ivor logo printed on so they will be  extra protected when being shipped.

They come in sizes 1 - 4 which translates as:

1 = 3 - 6 months
2 = 6 - 9 months
3 = 9 - 12 months
4 = 12 -18 months

Check out our Amy and Ivor Moccasins range at Le Petit Bonbon with FREE UK SHIPPING!!!

Skin Care Presentation by Saira Khan at Jacadi London

There are a few reasons why I was excited when I found out about this presentation. Firstly, Jacadi holds a very special place in my heart as I was dressed a lot in Jacadi as a child, secondly i've been dressing little T (A LOT) in Jacadi since the day he was born (literally!) and thirdly i've been a chronic eczema sufferer for many years and i've been on the hunt for a natural non-medicated alternative.

Wednesday 28th May was a dreary wet one but the moment you step foot into the immaculate and pristine boutique on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge you forget! The presentation was being held on the first floor - the space was beautifully set up with white chairs and a large screen at the end.

Most of the woman who had come for the talk had brought their little ones... I had not for basic fact that T is a three year old boy who currently doesn't "do" sitting -  at all! Once everyone was seated, Saira began her presentation.

A little background about Saira:

Saira was a runner-up in the very first series of The Apprentice in 2005. She has since become a regular face on British television presenting several documentaries for the BBC as well as many other shows. After The Apprentice she set up her own business Miamoo creating a range natural skin care products for babies and children (and adults!)

Saira was completely in her element as she explained her thoughts and research to eager mums wanting to know more about what products should and shouldn't be used on their babies delicate skin. As a dry skin sufferer myself, it was a real education for me as my experience of going to various GP's and dermatologists has resulted in years of damage to my skin through repeated usage of steroid ointments and creams.

The main points we learnt:

- There are many causes of dry skin, such as - the weather, water, hormones and genetics. For babies and children this can erupt in the form of cradle cap, nappy rash teething rash and eczema to name a few.

- The high street solutions should be BANNED! I as many other thousands of mums, have bought skin care products for our babies from the high street shops. I believed that the products I was buying were "gentle", "calming" and "natural" however as Saira demonstrated in her slides, these products were merely masked by misleading marketing and packaging and they contained ingredients that in actuality were aggravating and damaging baby's skin! Believe me i'm furious with myself for not knowing better but how could we when the packaging is so deceiving?!

- ALWAYS read the label! Ingredients to look out for (in other words don't buy it if it has them):
*Parabens
*Petrochemicals
*Methylisothiazolinone (MI) Preservative
*Sodium Lauryl Sulphate
*Synthetic Colour/Fragrance
*PEGS (Polyethylene Glycol)

Saira herself is living proof that natural products such as her own brand Miamoo do have amazing results if used regularly and routinely! As a dry skin sufferer herself, her skin is now glowing with a beautiful shine - you would never know she has any dry skin issues! For me it is really inspiring and it seems so simple!
With the three basic steps of WASH, MOISTURISE and OILS every day there is very little excuse for dry skin when using the right products.

We got the chance to try, feel and smell her range of products and I applied them directly to my problems skin areas and I can say that there was absolutely no irritation and it felt very soothing and soft. I was convinced very quickly and I will be ordering the range of products from myself and little T -  as Saira said that even if babies don't have dry skin now they very well might in the future if they don't have a regular skin care routine.

Thank you Saira and the whole Jacadi team for putting together this lovely morning, it was the first Jacadi Parenting Club event and I look forward to many more in the future.

Bathing Bunnies

Another of our new rising star brands we recently started stocking is the super cute range of baby hooded towels and bath mitts from designer Bathing Bunnies. We instantly fell in love with this range when we saw it as I had only ever found towels like that in the US so I was super excited to have a UK brand creating them.
Designed and created by Angela Taylor, a mum who has worked with multinational companies specialising in towels and towels for babies over the last 15 years - she decided to start her own range. We're very glad she did!

Here are just some of the towels and mitts we retail at Le Petit Bonbon:

The towels are made from 100% cotton velour at 490 gsm making them extremely soft and great a drying. Designed for babies aged 0-6 months however I think they will be used far longer than that as the quality doesn't fade even after many, MANY washes.

 Each towel comes gift ready - rolled and tied with a cute ribbon however we also offer to put it in a beautiful gift box which is great is you are ordering a set with the matching bath mitt.

 The bath mitts have two benefits, aside from being super soft on baby's delicate skin - the provide a distraction and entertainment for the little one in the tub and can even be used as a puppet! Sometimes super necessary when it comes to hair washing tantrums!

Comparing to other similar products from other brands, you cannot beat the cost of our Bathing Bunnies range, hooded towels are just £18.99 and bath mitts are only £7.99

The whole collection can be found at Le Petit Bonbon today!

The Little Tailor

I'd like to introduce you all to one of our latest brands The Little Tailor. Children's trade show Bubble London has awarded them with the Bubble Rising Star Award in the last show in January which is honoured to new business that show innovation, quality, originality and commercial appeal. I truly believe this award is completely justified as I didn't even get to go to the trade show in January and I still fell in love with their work just through the photographs of their gorgeous garments.

Set up by Kate and Jane, mothers on a mission to create beautiful garments and accessories for little ones that are incredible supple and soft and not to mention elegant in design.

Here are just a few examples:

Each garment is hand knitted using an especially long-fiber yarn to create the soft breathable fabric which is gentle against a newborns delicate skin.

We recently found out that the lovely Sinitta (Simon Cowell's BFF) has given gorgeous baby Eric a beautiful The Little Tailor gift set, i'm sure he will look adorable in it all.

The Little Tailor is available online to purchase at Le Petit Bonbon and we also offer free shipping on all orders over £30 - perfect for the precious little one in your life.

The Terrible 3's

Long before you even contemplate having kids, you are well aware of the so called "terrible 2's". All my single and newly wed friends know about it and while my son was in his 2's it was an easy way to explain his erratic mood and pointless tantrums without going into too many details ... he's over tired, he's hungry, he's wants what he can't have...bla bla bla.

So despite Little T's year of the 2 now over, I look back in exhaustion and compare to what I am dealing with now that he has just turned 3 - where do I start??!

Between the age of 1 and 2, toddlers language skills are fairy limited and tantrums and meltdowns usually involve a lot of noise and you get a massive sense of frustration coming from their lack of communication. Their vast amount of energy at this age means lots of speed with very little/no common sense - a nightmare in public open space. Whilst I was complaining of these situations to friends with older children they assured me that once they get to 3, these situations calm down.
They were correct however incredibly misleading!

Let me introduce you to my 3 year old (of one week!)

Now a fully fledged, very fluent speaker with one heck of personality and one heck of a strong head.

This is my day -

"I want to do it"
"I can do it"
"I NEED to do it"
"Why can't we go there"
"I don't want to leave"
"I want to go now!"

My every day feels like being on the debating society at school (which I used to sit quietly in the corner so no one would ask my opinion!) It feels like I am spending my negotiating with someone who will not back down. Don't get me wrong, when he is content he is loveable, cuddly and incrediably fun - I absolutely love his company when he is not debating my every move.

You know whats more scary, I can't see this situation easing up for many years, I've seen kids out and about making the exact statements as little T even at the ages of 9 or 10 years old! Yikes!

I need to start enjoying coffee! Ahh don't you miss babies when they don't argue back....

ok rant over - time for bed :)

Love this little face xxx

Congratulations Gwen!

A big LPB congrats to Gwen Stefani who gave birth to her THIRD boy on 28th February. They named him Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale as tweeted by his dad lead singer of rock band Bush, Gavin Rossdale. His middle names Bowie and Flynn are said to be combinations of grandmothers' maiden names.

Little Apollo's brothers are seven year old Kingston and five year old Zuma, both renowned for their super cool styling... i'm sure Apollo will follow suit!

Rain Rain..... ease up a bit please?

As the rain clouds seem to have gotten rather comfy over Britain this winter with no real sign of sunshine for a while, then good quality and fun children's rain wear is essential to keep those little people dry and warm. The good news is that most rain wear is in the sale right now in shops and online boutiques... If you have already made your rain wear purchases for this year, its not a bad idea to snatch up some gorgeous items for next year while they're still in the sale! Lets face it, its not like we're going to have a dry winter - ever ! Yes ok i'm a touch pessimistic about British weather...

Anyways, at LPB HQ we've put together a little something with our top picks for the rainy season!
